About Ordinal
What We Do
Four pillars. One finance function.
Henry O'Brien
We build and run finance functions for founder-led, operator-owned and growing businesses, from bookkeeping and financial operations through strategic finance and transactions. Four connected pillars, working together as one function rather than four separate services.
Finance Architecture
The foundations: bookkeeping, chart of accounts, systems, controls and the structure everything else depends on. Built properly from day one, or rebuilt properly on day one hundred, the principle is the same. Get the foundations right so the function can scale without breaking.

Operations
This is where the numbers become useful.
Forecasting, treasury, tax, cross-border efficiency, pricing, margins and the financial levers that are often underused or poorly understood. The role of strategic finance is to test assumptions, understand performance and give operators better information from which to make decisions.
Strategic Finance
This is where the numbers become useful.
Forecasting, treasury, tax, cross-border efficiency, pricing, margins and the financial levers that are often underused or poorly understood. The role of strategic finance is to test assumptions, understand performance and give operators better information from which to make decisions.
Transactions
Capital raises, acquisitions, strategic investment and exits place a business under a different level of scrutiny.
Our approach is to prepare for that scrutiny long before a transaction begins. Clean information, understood economics and reliable reporting should already exist, so a transaction becomes the culmination of the finance function rather than the point at which the work starts.
One function, not four vendors
These are not four services to assemble piecemeal.
They are one finance function, viewed from four connected angles and built around the same business, the same numbers and the same operating context.
What you need changes as the business grows, and the function should flex with it.
Some businesses need help establishing the foundations. Others need stronger reporting, better strategic support or transaction capability. Often they need a combination of all four over time.
That continuity matters. The closer the finance function is to the business over time, the better it understands what is normal, what is changing and what deserves attention.
